Whew. It’s been awhile, friends. Like everyone else on the planet, my life’s gone topsy-turvy this year dealing with the physical and emotional realities of the COVID-19 pandemic. Add to that the weight of political divisions and racial tensions. It’s a lot, isn’t it?
With the constant shuffling and reshuffling of life in recent months, time and energy for blog posts simply disappeared for a season. If 2020 has taught me anything, it’s been that sometimes you just have to let go and trust God to fill in the gaping holes of your own weakness.
Amidst the tumult, though, God’s been so faithful. So good. In a world where barbed arrows of judgment have become a cloud around us all, I have again and again found peace in God’s forgiving presence. The only true Judge among us, and He offers a verdict of grace to any who reach for it, again and again and again.
And boy have I needed it this year. Amen?
I’m thankful that a fresh, new year is on the horizon. There’s hope in new beginnings, and perhaps that’s why this pretty floral calendar was the first project I turned to after a few months away from the blog.
I’ve always had an affinity for floral designs, but this year it seems especially important to mark the days with something beautiful: A reminder that as hard and uncertain as life may be, there’s still beauty to be found in each day if we look for it. Yes, 2020 has been a long, hard climb. But haven’t we become stronger and learned some lessons along the way? Haven’t we been forced to see our own rough edges, forced to grow and learn—even if it’s sometimes been the hard way? Hasn’t God been there, always ready with conviction, encouragement, and grace, when we finally let go and turn toward Him?
Beautiful blossoms don’t appear in thin air: They grow because of the goodness that’s mixed in with the dirt.
I hope the sweet vintage blossoms on this free printable 2021 calendar remind you of that truth through next year, whatever it may bring.
